I don’t know what it is, but I just can’t seem to get enough of Blood Orange. There’s just something about that psychedelic sound of his that seems to induce good vibes. His latest concoction is an awesome cover of Drake’s latest song “Hold On, We’re Going Home” that highlights his ability to blend synths and guitar chords into something truly special. Listen to it below.
Prior to the whole will.i.am stealing “Rebound” controversy, I wasn’t all too familiar with Mat Zo’s work. Aside from hearing his hit collaboration with Porter Robinson “Easy,” it wasn’t until May earlier this year when I caught him performing in Richmond as one of the openers for Dada Life that I truly realized just how talented he really is. Whether he’s mixing or producing, the energy in his work never lets up and “Pyramid Scheme” is a great example of that. Enlisting the vocals of Public Enemy member Chuck D., Mat Zo gives us a funky, hard-hitting electro-house track that’s bound to get any dance floor moving. Peep game below.
Prior to coming across this lively remix by Wilfred Giroux, I was actually planning to write about the original version of AlunaGeorge’s “You Know You Like It.” Rather than shed light on a song that I’m sure most of you have already heard about, I figured it’d be better to post something nice and fresh to help get your mind right for the weekend. Wilfred Giroux’s remix of “You Know You Like It” is sure to help on that front as the UK-based producer puts a UK Garage twist (think something along the lines of Disclosure) on AlunaGeorge’s spacey, electro-R&B track. Give it a listen and be sure to check out AlunaGeorge’s awesome debut album Body Music as well.
